- If something in your apartment is in need of repair, don't delay in reporting it to the managers. Delaying repairs can be much more costly, time consuming and inconvenient for you and the management.
- To avoid heating problems and freezing pipes, please do not turn your heat completely off during the winter months. Even the lowest setting will allow enough water to flow through the pipes to keep them from freezing.
- Never use a bleach-based product to remove a stain in your carpet. Call the managers if you have a nasty stain. Our carpet cleaners can remove just about any stain without damaging the carpet.
- Many rubber backed rugs can discolor vinyl floors. Use cloth backed rugs in bathrooms, kitchens and entrances.
- Using a humidifier or vaporizer can make your apartment seem warmer. However, if the humidity being released into the air is cool, it will make the air seem cooler and take more energy to heat the air. NOTE: OVER-HUMIDIFYING THE AIR CAN CAUSE MOLD/MILDEW PROBLEMS.

Planning a Move? We Hope Not, but...
|
If you are planning to move in the near future, please remember to closely review your lease agreement. Whether you moved in two weeks ago or two years ago, your lease requires you to provide a 60-day written notice to vacate and also includes a winter clause.
Occasionally, a resident gets confused as to what the requirements are fopr a proper 60-day Notice. Here are a few guidelines:
- It must be in writing.
- It must include your address.
- It must include the date you will be moving.
- It must have the signature of all residents listed on the lease.
- It must be received in our office at least 60 days prior to your moveout date and before the beginning of a rental period.
This last requirement is probably the least understood. Here is an easy way to remember when a "rental period" begins. Just ask yourself, "When is my monthly rent due?" In your case, rent is due on or before the first day of each month. This means you should have a 60-day Notice in on or before the first of the month at least two months prior to your moveout date. Even if you moved in on the 15th of the month, your lease agreement still runs from the first day of the month to the last. For instance, if you plan to move out June 30, 2007 - in order to give a proper 60-day Notice - you need to make sure that it arrives in the TDS office on or before May 1, 2007. If you have any questions, please ask the property managers.
